BCS finalists Oregon and Auburn were able to conquer all obstacles en route to undefeated regular seasons. However, both programs struggle with one off the field issue; fundraising.
It is the goal of major collegiate athletic programs to be self-sufficient and not rely on university funding to run operations. Significant donations are necessary to make this possible. Fortunately for Oregon and Auburn, they have mega-donors in the form of Phil Knight and Bobby Lowder, who have donated large sums of money over the years to their respective universities.
