This weekend may have been the last time we watch Texas battle Texas A&M while eating leftover turkey sandwiches and pie with our families. The Aggies are on their way out of the Big XII and heading to the SEC starting next year. BCS finalists Oregon and Auburn were able to conquer all obstacles en route to undefeated regular seasons.  However, both programs struggle with one off the field issue; fundraising.

It is the goal of major collegiate athletic programs to be self-sufficient and not rely on university funding to run operations.  Significant donations are necessary to make this possible.  Fortunately for Oregon and Auburn, they have mega-donors in the form of Phil Knight and Bobby Lowder, who have donated large sums of money over the years to their respective universities.
